The Kövesd project was born from the idea of two enthusiastic friends Attila Sánta and Zoltán Varga. In 2021, we planted vineyards on nearly 3 hectares in Kamenica nad Hronom (Garamkövesd) and the neighbouring Bajtava (Bajta) to showcase what the abandoned vineyards of the Lower Garam region are capable of.
From the beginning it was clear to us that we wanted to make natural wine. It is not a dogma, nor a trend to follow, but our belief in expressing the area’s qualities in the truest way possible.

Our energies are devoted to organic-biodynamic viticulture with minimized cellar work to produce wine with the least possible human and technological intervention.

Nature knows its job, we just create the necessary conditions, let the wine age in barrels and bottle it. We work without pumps and only use gravity, traditional basket presses, and let the stum ferment spontaneously. The wine is bottled without clearing or filtration. Sulphur is jused in minimum amounts before bottling and only if necessary. Our production among others includes a selection of orange wines and pét-nat sparkling wines.
While our freshly planted vineyards are coming to production, we process organically cultivated grapes bought from the surrounding area and from a rented plot on the outskirts of the village Béla (Belá).
